Sukkot Team

Code of Conduct

With several people looking to attend Sukkot, we believe it is in the best interest of all parties to have a few "ground rules" in place so all people can have an enjoyable and pleasant experience with their family as well as their new extended family in YHWH.

Introduction:

We want to do our very best with the Father’s help, to create a beautiful atmosphere of love, joy and peace as we dwell together in unity during Sukkot.  In order to achieve that goal there must be order in the camp!  Please read the following guidelines and abide by them during your stay with us at the Texas State Railroad campground..

Authority Structure
(Based on EX 18)
Moses = Yeshua
Captains over 100’s = Sukkot Leadership (Steve Hoelscher, David Brumlow, Ken Cagle, Chris Droblyn)
Captains over 50’s = Section Leaders (to be assigned)
Captains over 10’s = Fathers
Please use that authority structure if a problem arises in the camp.
Is someone at Sukkot offends you, follow the Matt 18:15-18 model of reconciliation (first go to your brother and try to reconcile, then go to the section leader, then to the leadership).

General Guidelines
1. Show respect to everyone, especially Elders.
2. Keep your campsite neat and orderly.
3. Do not leave personal belongings at meeting places or at other’s campsites.
4. Do not use others belongings without permission (ex: fishing poles, bicycles, etc..)
5. Drive overly cautious when driving through the camp.
6. Absolutely no gatherings of young people without adult supervision.
7. Quiet hours: 1pm – 3pm (nap time) and 10pm- 6:00am.
8. No mixing of boys and girls in activities in which bodily contact is possible.
9. Do not let your children roam the campground unattended.

Recommendations
1. Pray for the elders & Sukkot leadership
2. Get to bed early.  It will be a fun week and festive week if you are well rested.  We also would not want you to miss morning prayers.
3. Attend all gatherings and meet new people.  The schedule is purposely designed to be family friendly.
4. Invite people to your campsite for meals and fellowship.
5. Be intentional about spending time with your family.
6. Practice the fruits of the spirit (Gal 5), build up, don’t tear down.

Dress Code

We hold a high standard for modesty and holiness in relationships.  Please respect and abide by them.  Basically, wear clothing that brings glory to God and not attention to you and be guarded in conversations with the opposite gender.  Please NO unsupervised gatherings of young people.  If you are staying somewhere else, please travel as a family in and out of the campground.

Sukkot is one of the “moedim” - one of YHWH’s appointed times.

Everyone at the Rusk, Texas Sukkot has looked forward to this time of year with great anticipation.  As we come together, we seek to honor the Holy One of Israel in all that we say and do.  We seek to walk together as a close community of believers in Messiah – enjoying and serving one another.  It is our conduct as well as our attire that affects our witness both to one another and to the world.  At Sukkot, it is our expectation that all of us who gather together will dress and act modestly.

Listed below are some guidelines to help you.  Please review them carefully as you will be expected to adhere to them while you are at this appointed feast:

§  No inappropriate slogans, pictures, advertisements or celebrities on your clothes

§  Nothing that is tight, low, or sheer

§  No tank tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, crop tops, or exposed bra straps. Men, going without a shirt is inappropriate.

§  No exposed bellies or backs

§  No short shorts/skirts.  These should not be shorter that 1 inch above the knee.  If you have something shorter that you would like to wear, you must have leggings visible underneath.  No tight blue jeans or shorts.  Long (below the knee) skirts or dresses are preferable.  Loose pants are OK.  We prefer that your top covers your bottom.

§  If your jeans have holes in them, make sure the holes are no higher that your knees

§  No facial or tongue piercing.  Some find this offensive/distracting.  Please remove these at the feast.

§  Remember you’re a witness to each other.  Wherever we are, let’s let our light shine.

Please review these rules together as a family.  If the dress code rules are not followed, you will either be asked to go back to your campsite and change, or if you need modest clothing we will help you find something appropriate.  Please plan your feast wardrobe accordingly.  Parents, please make sure your children are dressed modestly when we come together.   A copy of the dress policy will be handed out to you when you arrive as part of your Sukkot Packet.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in making this time set apart for the whole camp.

Thank you for your careful attention to this matter!
